Fayette Place Silent Vigil Walk Reminder Checklist

We look forward to seeing you for our Silent Vigil Walk on Wednesday October 14th at 5pm as we reflect on the past and imagine a brighter future for the property and the community. 

Here are some things to remember:

Livestream Links: 

For those who cannot attend in person, the event will be livestreamed on our Facebook and Youtube channels. 

 

Parking

We suggest you park at the following locations:

  1. Monument of Faith Church - 900 Simmons St, Durham, NC 27701
  2. Boys and Girls Club (recommended for those with limited physical mobility) - 826 E Pettigrew St, Durham, NC 27701
  3. Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church -801 Colfax St, Durham, NC 27701

You may also be able to find street parking on adjacent streets in the neighborhood. Please factor in time to park and walk to the gathering site before 5pm

Event Timeline and Walking Route: 

4pm-- Grounds Team volunteers arrive and Monument of Faith parking lot opens

4:30-4:45-- Park and walk over to gathering site

4:50-- Grant street will be CLOSED to traffic staring @ E. Umstead St.

5pm-- Invocation by Bishop Laney and Pastor Tim

5:10-- Silent Walk begins (first group departs)

We will break up into 5-6 groups to depart in waves in order to keep appropriate physical distancing.

Folks with limited mobility are encouraged to join group 6 so that they may partake in a shorter route

COVID Considerations

Please note that participants are REQUIRED to wear a mask that fits properly (fits snuggly across your NOSE and MOUTH) while participating in all parts of the Vigil. It is of the utmost importance that you remain 6 FEET APART (at least finger tip to finger tip) throughout the event. Maintaining the health and safety of our member communities is essential to our work at Durham CAN.
