How To Get Involved

BECOME A MEMBER

Institutions that join CAN do so for three central reasons:

To develop leadership and strengthen community within and between their institutions.

To build bridges across longstanding divisions that isolate communities from each other.

To build their capacity to act against the root causes of inequality and injustice.

The responsibilities of institutional membership are threefold:

To build a core team of leaders responsible for organizing within the member institution.

To identify leaders to participate in training, initiate local action and take part in major CAN actions and campaigns.

To pay membership dues.

JOIN A CAMPAIGN

Every CAN campaign begins with listening. We come together to share stories about the issues that affect our lives, our families, our communities, then choose issues we all can support. We act strategically, holding government and corporate power players accountable for the common good. We evaluate continuously, growing our leadership. We create change.

SUPPORT OUR WORK

Durham CAN is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are supported by the dues of our member organizations, and by contributions from individuals, businesses, and foundations. Contributions to Durham CAN are tax-deductible. Become a "Friend of CAN" and help revitalize democracy in Durham.
