Hoover Rd. residents and the Affordable Housing Team will continue planting the community garden at Hoover Rd. After two weeks, the garden has already become a source of joy for the neighborhood. Ms. Sherry, a resident-leader, says "The kids come to me everyday and say ‘Grandma nobody has touched our garden yet!… They are excited to water it and come to me every day asking ‘can we go water the garden?’” The garden has been a dream for residents for a long time, and we are excited that it has become reality. As the garden continues to grow, it will provide fresh produce, a gathering space, and a learning opportunity for kids and adults in the community.
This Saturday, we will be joined by Rotary Gardens and Cheralyn Beasley-- two prospective funders for the project. People of all ages are welcome to join in the planting-- contact Heather Ladd for more info.
