Nidhi is a rising sophomore statistics/political science major at Duke University with experience in R cleaning data and creating reports. She has a deep interest in the intersection between statistics and policy issues and has been placed with Durham CAN through Duke Tech for Equity. Nidhi's work will including using GIS mapping, HUD data, and personal narrative to explore whether the Durham Housing Authority's current redevelopment plan which includes transitioning public housing units into project-based rental assistance and Housing Choice Vouchers, actually de-concentrates poverty as claimed, or re-concentrates poverty in other areas of Durham and North Carolina. We hope it will be a powerful tool in our research, our future housing campaign proposals, and help shape the overall public narrative about how public investment in housing in Durham can better serve our neighbors who are most in need.
